Yesterday was the last day of the 91st Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society in Seattle.
ImpactWeather’s Director of Operations Kevin Smith and Bob Weinzapfel, Project Manager, Technical Support Lead and Meteorologist, have been at the meeting all week and, according to them, it’s been not only a busy week but also a productive one.
Says Kevin, “The theme of this year’s meeting is Communicating Weather and Climate. Many presentations have discussed how the public receives weather data in many more and different ways than they did just a few years ago. Social media, text messages and mobile applications are making weather data more accessible than ever before. Fewer consumers are relying solely on TV for their weather needs. Increasing public awareness of hazardous weather conditions by getting the message out to them in a timely manner using technology is allowing citizens to make better informed decisions and reduce the associated risks.”
In a nutshell, ever more efficient uses of new technology to proactively deliver vital weather information to decision-makers. Sounds like ImpactWeather to me.
