On Saturday, an intense lightning storm rolled through Windermere, Florida producing frequent lightning along with golf ball size hail. Officials say that a bolt of lightning hit a light pole in the middle of a neighborhood road and then traveled underground and broke a water main. The pressure from the water caused the ground to erupt, leaving a massive hole in the road as you see below.

City workers were hard at work later Saturday cleaning up the water and mud. I think it’s interesting to note that even though neighborhood residents did see their lights flicker with the storms, no one’s power was affected in the neighborhood. You would think a storm strong enough to create a massive hole in the road would leave at least a few people without lights.
